About Dr. Roberta Kalafut
A cofounder of SpineAbilene, Dr. Roberta Kalafut brings over two decades of experience to her role as a Physician Partner. Board certified in Pain Medicine, as well as in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Roberta Kalafut plays a key role in administering industrial medicine, as well as noninvasive treatments for an array of spinal issues. Under Dr. Roberta Kalafut’s leadership, SpineAbilene has built and maintained a solid reputation for providing exemplary patient treatment and innovative nonsurgical solutions for back and neck pain.
Throughout her professional career, Dr. Roberta Kalafut has served in various leadership positions in a broad range of organizations. Dr. Roberta Kalafut serves as the Chairman of the Physicians Health and Rehabilitation Committee for the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society. In this capacity, Dr. Roberta Kalafut oversees impaired physicians throughout their rehabilitation. Additionally, Dr. Roberta Kalafut maintains memberships in the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Texas Pain Society, and the state’s District Review Committee. Dr. Roberta Kalafut was also asked by the Federation of State Medical Boards to participate in the fourth annual United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) item-writing workshop for members of state medical boards. The workshop is hosted by the two parent organizations of the USMLE: the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
Dr. Roberta Kalafut formerly served as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as President of the Texas Medical Board, and as a Committee Member of the Texas Worker’s Compensation Commission.
Dr. Roberta Kalafut matriculated at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, from which she earned her Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Roberta Kalafut completed her undergraduate education at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
When she is not working, Dr. Roberta Kalafut enjoys scuba diving and gardening.
Dr. Roberta Kalafut currently resides in Abilene, Texas.
